Gossip
I was reading Matt's blog about gossip, and wise is him who refrain from gossip.
In the Bible, there are certain verses that I have been reading and they make a lot of sense to me.
Proverb 18:8
The words of a gossip is like choice morsels, they go down to a man's inmost parts.
Just as we like to ignore and all that, we can't help but to be affected by it, it like the choice delicacy that when we eat, it goes deep down to our stomach.
Proverbs 16:28
A perverse man stirs up dissesnsion, and a gossip separates close friends.
It speaks for itself.
Also know that tongue is sharper than knife!!!
I somehow equip gossip to a form of murder. As in 'Thou shall not murder" in the 10 commandment.
Why? Let's say you do not know about person A and I dislike him. I tell him all the bad things about him (so as to protect you). Person A has not died in the process of it, but in your heart, his image is as good as dead. That's why it is a murder.
Other forms of murders are found in Matthew 5:21 to 26
I have to admit that I am not a novice to gossip, I have tried to control, but when the urge of gossip is blended with a good portion of anger, I tend to give in.
This will go down to my new year resolution - purity in speech.Labels: 示
